Jim Flynn, Ph.D.

Jim Flynn PhD

Dr. Jim Flynn is CEO and founder of Harford Survey Research.  He has more than 20 years university teaching experience and more than 30 years experience consulting with business and industry.  Dr. Flynn's areas of expertise include survey research, outcome measurement, program evaluation, strategic planning, organizational design and change.  He has performed survey research in the areas of alumni attitudes, interests and financial gift giving; student retention; faculty teaching effectiveness; volunteer commitment; performance appraisal; supervisory and leader behaviors; employee attitudes; patient, physician, and customer satisfaction; workplace safety; and community health.

Dr. Flynn obtained a Ph.D. in industrial and organizational psychology and a M.S. in general-experimental psychology from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. He obtained a B.S. in psychology from Lynchburg College in Lynchburg, Virginia.  He is the author of numerous articles, technical reports and paper presentations. Dr. Flynn is a member of the American Psychological Association, the Society of Industrial and Organizational Psychology, and the Academy of Management.

Peggy Pittas, Ph.D.

Peggy Pittas

Dr. Peggy Pittas works as one of our subject matter experts. Dr. Pittas is a Professor of Psychology at Lynchburg College in Lynchburg, Virginia. She is also the Assistant Dean for the Senior Symposium and the LCSR (Lynchburg College Senior Symposium Readings, Classical Selections on Great Issues) series editor.  Dr. Pittas has much expertise and experience in teaching pedagogy; curriculum development; student life and development; and program development, assessment and evaluation. She is the author of more than 50 professional articles, books, presentations and manuscripts.

Dr. Pittas has extensive experience conducting surveys in academic settings, and considerable experience performing alumni survey research.  She has served as a consultant on several alumni survey projects.  She has also performed survey research on faculty perceptions of barriers to their professional performance, a study of substance abuse attitudes and behaviors among college students, a survey of health insurance issues and concerns in area businesses, and a survey of local physicians concerning health care needs.

Dr. Pittas received her Ph. D. in Higher Education Administration from the University of Virginia; her M. A. in experimental psychology from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia; and her B.A. from Bridgewater College in Bridgewater, VA.

Kathryn Mitchell Pumphrey, Ed.D., CFRE

Kathryn Mitchell Pumphrey Dr. Kathryn Pumphrey works as one of our subject matter experts. Dr. Pumphrey is the Executive Vice President of the Centra Health Foundation, and has 20 years of successful fundraising experience. As Executive Vice President, Dr. Pumphrey oversees and implements all fundraising programs at Centra Health including: capital campaigns, annual giving, major and special gifts and planned giving. She also oversees Centra Health's corporate grants program: the Community Health Initiative Fund.  Prior to joining Centra Health, Dr. Pumphrey served as Director of Institutional Advancement at Central Virginia Community College; Director of Development at James River Day School; and Director of Development at Seven-Hills Schools.  Dr. Pumphrey has considerable experience performing alumni survey research and much experience in development.

She received her Ed.D. in Higher Education Administration from the University of Virginia; her M.Ed. from Lynchburg College; and a B.A. in English from Lynchburg College. She is a Certified Fundraising Executive. She is a member of the Association of Healthcare Philanthropy, the Association of Fund Raising Professionals and the Virginia Consortium for Healthcare Philanthropy.

Peggy Vaughan, M.D., MPH

Peggy Vaughan

Dr. Peggy Vaughan works as one of our subject matter experts. Dr. Vaughan obtained her M.D. from the University of Maryland Medical College and her MPH from Johns Hopkins University. She received a B.S. in psychology from the University of Maryland.  Dr. Vaughan is the Senior Vice President of Medical Affairs for the Upper Chesapeake Health System in Belair, Maryland. She has much experience and expertise in the areas of patient safety, patient and physician satisfaction, community health, nurse retention, hospital culture and management.   She also has considerable experience performing survey research in healthcare.
