James B. Flynn, Ph.D.

Jim Flynn, Ph.D. is the President of Harford Survey Research (HSR). He has more than 20 years university teaching experience and more than 30 years experience consulting with the military, government agencies, businesses, industry and academic institutions. Dr. Flynn's areas of expertise include survey research, program evaluation, outcome measurement, strategic planning,  leadership and organization design. He has performed survey research related to alumni attitudes, engagement, interests and giving; student retention; faculty teaching effectiveness; volunteer commitment; leadership; employee attitudes and community health.  

For the past decade, Dr. Flynn has been the principle investigator of HSR’s research on alumni attitudes, engagement and giving. He has conducted focus groups and alumni surveys for colleges and universities, directed HSR’s National Alumni Engagement Study and helped schools use their survey results to build more engaged alumni communities and increase alumni giving..

Dr. Flynn earned a Ph.D. in industrial and organizational psychology at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia.  He is the author of numerous articles, technical reports and paper presentations. Dr. Flynn is a member of the American Psychological Association, the Society of Industrial and Organizational Psychology, and the Academy of Management.
