Privacy Statement

Harford Survey Research (HSR) conducts attitudinal and organizational surveys for a variety of businesses, industries, and organizations.  Our surveys allow organizations to evaluate the collective opinions, attitudes, and behaviors of employees, customers, students, alumni, and volunteers, to determine what actions might be taken to improve organizational effectiveness or facilitate organizational change.

When we collect survey data, HSR only provides our clients with statistical reports or summaries of survey results. The responses, written comments, and feedback obtained from individual survey respondents are not reported.  What individuals say is kept confidential and never communicated to the client organization.  Demographic data are only obtained to describe the samples on which data are obtained or to evaluate differences between groups.  When survey data are entered over the Internet, email addresses, identification numbers, or survey passwords may be requested for security purposes, to allow individuals to retrieve and complete their survey at a later time, or to link survey data with archival records that organizations maintain on individual respondents.  This information is not used to describe what is reported by individual survey respondents.

After all data have been collected and our report has been received and accepted by the client organization, all information which could be used to identify any individual respondent is destroyed. Paper surveys are shredded; and data files containing names, contact information, email addresses, identification numbers, or survey passwords are deleted.  HSR firmly believes in respecting the personal privacy of survey respondents and is committed to assuring that any personal information we obtain is properly used and appropriately safeguarded.  At no time will a respondent’s personal information be released to a third party, except as required by law.

HSR certifies that this privacy statement is accurate, comprehensive, and completely implemented.  Our policy conforms to the Safe Harbor Principles developed by the U.S. Department of Commerce, as well as the European Data Protection Authorities.  Any complaints about Harford Survey Research’s adherence to this privacy policy should be addressed to Jim Flynn, Ph.D., 3243 Level Rd, Churchville, MD, 21028 USA, telephone (410) 893-5152, fax (410) 734-6963 or jbflynnphd@harfordsurveyresearch.com.  If Harford Survey Research fails to satisfactorily respond to any complaints, they may be pursued with the Federal Trade Commission or heard by the European Data Protection Authorities.
