Resources
HSR is engaged in a systematic program of alumni survey research directed at understanding alumni attitudes, needs and interests. Our focus has been understanding what is important to alumni, and helping schools use this information to build more engaged alumni communities and increase alumni giving. We participate on listserves and offer advice to schools who are plan to conduct an alumni survey. The many surveys and focus groups we have conducted have provided us with much information; we have shared these results in the white papers we have written, on our blog - Engage, on the listserves on which we participate and at the conferences we attend.
The Science of Surveys describes our approach to alumni surveys. The FAQs provide brief answers to some of the questions we are frequently asked. If you plan to conduct an alumni survey in the near future, you should review these. We sometimes write Case Studies based on our more interesting alumni survey projects, and these underscore how important the overall survey process can be - who you involve, how much support the process is given on campus and how you plan to use your survey results. We also write White Papers on topics related to our alumni survey research. These short articles are written for practitioners and discuss issues related to alumni survey research, alumni engagement, giving and strategies for building more engaged alumni communities. Dr. Jim Flynn writes about HSR's alumni survey research, engagement and giving in our Blog - Engage. Listed below are some of the resources we offer on our Website.

What Our Clients Say:
I worked with Jim in the development of our 2009 alumni relations survey. The purpose of the survey was to help us better understand the attitudes, needs, and interests of our alumni.Jim did an excellent job in developing a print and web-based survey for our alumni that resulted in an excellent response rate. The analysis of the data we received allowed us to implement meaningful, targeted programs for our alumni, resulting in increased engagement.
Jim was a true professional and able to work effectively with all of our constituencies...alumni council members, alumni/advancement staff, administration, and our Board of Trustees. I would recommend Jim to an alumni organization looking to understand the attitudes of its alumni and to increase engagement.
